Crazy Raccoon's last sponsorship ends as GALLERIA partnership closes
The August 31 announcement in Japan leaves the organization sponsor-free, but its CEO frames the move as deliberate rather than a shutdown.
The partnership announcement
GALLERIA announced the end of its Crazy Raccoon sponsorship on August 31 in Japan, which was the evening of August 30 in Pacific time. The announcement also ended sales of the collaboration PC model. OWTV's subsequent report identifies it as the organization's last remaining sponsorship.
CEO Daichi Takano, known as Ojiji, publicly framed the sponsor-free position as an intentional direction and told supporters not to worry. That is an important qualification: the end of a commercial partnership is not, by itself, an announcement that the Overwatch roster is disbanding or that the organization cannot continue.
What the news does and does not establish
A team's funding model and its competitive lineup are related subjects, but they are not interchangeable. Sponsorship, fan membership, events and merchandise can play different roles in an esports organization's finances. Without actual financial disclosures, it would be irresponsible to turn the empty sponsor list into a claim of insolvency.
For Overwatch fans, the useful next check is the organization's actual competitive commitments. Sponsorship status, roster announcements and match participation are separate evidence. The partnership ending establishes a business change; the CEO's explanation establishes how he publicly framed it. Neither supplies audited financial information or a documented plan to exit the scene. The confirmed news stops at the announced commercial relationship and the reported sponsor-free position.
