Overview of Progression 2.0
The Overwatch team has announced a significant update to the progression system in Overwatch 2, dubbed Progression 2.0. This new system aims to simplify the previous Hero-based progression levels that were introduced after the original system, which focused on overall time played. The goal is to create a more engaging and rewarding experience for players as they invest time in their favorite Heroes.
Ascended Portrait Borders
One of the standout features of Progression 2.0 is the introduction of Ascended portrait borders. Players will earn these borders for every 20 levels of Hero progression, which can be gained by playing a Hero in various game modes, excluding Custom Games. The borders start simple but evolve into more complex designs with electric energy as players reach higher levels, culminating in a fiery appearance at level 60. This not only serves as a visual representation of a player's dedication but also acts as a bragging right during matches.
Enhanced Badges for Achievements
In addition to the new portrait borders, players will also receive Badges at various checkpoints throughout their progression. These Badges have been redesigned to highlight significant achievements in a color-coded format, ranging from common gray to legendary gold. They will appear under the player's portrait in the Hero Select screen, providing another layer of recognition for players' efforts and accomplishments.
