Overwatch 2 Season 17 Midseason Surge Brings Major Updates

Flashpoint Map Reworks
The midseason update has revamped two Flashpoint maps, New Junk City and Suravasa, based on player feedback. The reworks focus on enhancing gameplay by providing clearer routes, improved visual themes, and better sightlines. Additionally, the new design logic favors the losing team after the mid-point is captured, aiming to create a more balanced and engaging experience.
Introducing Wuyang's Hero Trial
Wuyang, a new Support Hero from Wuxing University’s Water College, will be featured in a limited-time Hero Trial from August 14 to 18. Known for his unique rhythm-based abilities, Wuyang offers fluid healing and hybrid damage utility, promising a fresh take on Support gameplay. Players are encouraged to participate early to master his mechanics before his official release.
Team Challenges and Loot Events
From July 29 to August 25, players can engage in team challenges that reward them for playing with friends. Completing games in groups will unlock Loot Boxes, with additional rewards for wins and Stadium matches. Additionally, Junkrat's Loot Hunt event will take place from August 1 to 3, offering daily match challenges that can yield up to nine Loot Boxes.
Competitive Drives and New Cosmetics
Competitive Drives will return from August 21 to 25, featuring a new scoring system that rewards players solely based on wins. This update allows for more competitive play without rank limitations. Furthermore, the Overwatch Champions Series will introduce limited-time cosmetics, including team-specific bundles and skins, allowing players to support their favorite teams while enjoying the game.
