Overview of the OWCS 2025 Format
The OWCS 2025 will consist of three stages, each culminating in global live events. The season will kick off with an open qualifier in January, leading into a regular season that will feature the top 8-12 teams from various regions. Following the regular season, a regional tournament will determine which teams qualify for the global events.
Streamlined Competition and Consistency
In an effort to make the OWCS more accessible and engaging, every regular season match will be broadcasted. The league aims to provide a consistent experience across North America (NA), Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), and Asia. This consistency is expected to enhance viewer engagement and team visibility.
Promotion and Relegation: A New Challenge
A significant change for the OWCS 2025 is the introduction of a promotion and relegation system. This will allow the lowest-performing teams to defend their spots against emerging talent. In NA and EMEA, the FACEIT Leagues will serve as the official qualifier for promotion to OWCS, while in Asia, open qualifiers will be hosted on WARA.GG. This new structure aims to foster competitive integrity and ensure that the best teams are represented in the league.
