What Shion is hiding
Ambush gives a direct answer to one of the questions surrounding Shion's appearance. During a confrontation with the Hashimoto elders, she removes the humanlike facade covering her head and exposes the older omnic plating beneath it.
That underlying face is not pristine. The story describes damage accumulated through repeated battles with the previous Hashimoto leadership, tying the reveal to the years when Shion was held captive and used as a combat training machine. She uses the sight of it to intimidate the room, turning evidence of that abuse into a display of control.
How it fits her established origin
Shion's official biography already establishes that she rebuilt herself after escaping captivity, modified her chassis, and created the mask that became part of her public identity. Ambush adds the physical detail that the polished exterior can be removed and that her earlier, damaged plating still exists underneath.
The scene reinforces the divide at the center of Shion's design: the image she deliberately constructed after taking power and the body that carries the marks of how the Hashimoto treated her before that takeover.
