The replacement did not feel neutral

Blizzard's revised console aim system was intended to improve control, but it also changed the feel of settings that players had tuned over years. Because the older behavior was not available at launch, adjusting sliders could not fully recreate a familiar setup.

The response was not limited to comfort. Players also raised competitive concerns about how the new behavior affected different heroes and skill levels, prompting Blizzard to revisit some default changes.

Choice became the corrective step

The team said it had reverted part of the default modification and planned an optional legacy mode for the following season. That approach allowed the new system to remain available without forcing every console player to relearn muscle memory at once.

A legacy toggle also makes future tuning easier to evaluate. Players can compare behavior directly, while Blizzard can improve the newer model without removing a known baseline from the settings menu.
