Heroes of Busan is live

Overwatch Season 4 went live today at 11:00 AM Pacific, moving the Reign of Talon story to Busan and putting Yuna "D.Mon" Lee at the front of the MEKA Squad. This is more than a hero drop: the August 11 update changes Competitive rank distribution, rebuilds the Battle Pass, refreshes three maps and adds new information to the combat HUD.

The season arrives after the Junkers attack Busan and Talon infiltrates the MEKA base. That conflict is now visible across the city, giving D.Mon's launch a direct connection to the map rather than treating her as an isolated roster addition.

D.Mon brings a sword, barrier and team-wide opening

D.Mon joins the Tank roster with Beast, a close-range MEKA built around creating a path for the rest of her team. Plasma Saber supplies the melee pressure, Power Barrier blocks an area in front of her, and Propulsors let the mech launch in any direction. A shoulder-mounted Fusion Repeater gives her something to use before the fight reaches saber range.

Limit Break is the centerpiece. D.Mon spins through nearby opponents, gains Overhealth and leaves struck enemies taking increased damage, turning the Ultimate into an invitation for the entire team to move at once. Like D.Va, D.Mon can continue fighting after losing her mech, but Blizzard built her as a single game entity to avoid the older two-hero implementation behind D.Va.

The Battle Pass finally lets players choose a route

Season 4 replaces the single fixed reward order with an introductory track followed by selectable paths. Players can decide which Legendary skin to pursue first and change tracks after finishing one, while Premium owners receive one Tier Hack that can exchange an eligible Legendary reward for an item in the season's curated Swap Pool.

The first Swap Pool includes Raijin Ashe, Mob Boss Junker Queen, Cardboard Reinhardt, Sakura Lifeweaver and Crustacean Wrecking Ball. Blizzard also plans to introduce permanently available Unvaulted Passes at midcycle, although old premium currency, Mythic Prisms, Prestige Titles and original Mythic rewards will not carry into those returning passes.

Emerald changes the middle of Competitive

A new Emerald rank now sits between Platinum and Diamond. Blizzard says the addition is designed to spread out the largest part of the ranked population and give players in that range a clearer identity, with a redistribution focused primarily on former Platinum and Diamond players.

Season 4 also adds a percentile comparison to the Competitive overview. Team Drives arrive September 4 as a separate three-day event built around keeping winning teammates grouped, stacking progression bonuses and working through Gladiator Ranks together.

Team fights should be easier to read

The update adds a Team Status Indicator above the Kill Feed, a new Protect stat for Tanks, clearer healing and health-state effects, multi-kill callouts and the return of percentage damage contribution in the Activity Feed. These are small individually, but together they expose information that previously required more guesswork in the middle of a fight.

Busan, Paraiso and Eichenwalde also receive their announced updates. Busan carries the damage from the seasonal invasion, while Paraiso and Eichenwalde open new routes intended to loosen established choke points without replacing the maps outright.

MEKA Mania starts with the season

Shooting Star: My MEKA Mania runs August 11 through 31. Players choose a pilot pass for D.Va, D.Mon, Casino, King or Overlord, complete its challenges and cast a vote for that pilot on the global popularity ranking. Finishing all five passes opens a sixth Prestige track.

Season 4's headline Mythics are Koi of Duality Genji and the Eternal Crystal Sojourn weapon. The launch Battle Pass adds five Premium Legendary skins, while the Young Gods and Fleece and Fangs shop collections are scheduled for August 11 through 30. The result is a broad launch, but D.Mon and the competitive-system changes are the parts most likely to affect every match immediately.
