Three familiar maps are changing together

Overwatch's Season 4 map pass is bigger than a lighting swap. During the final day of the OWCS Midseason Championship, Blizzard previewed reworked versions of Eichenwalde, Paraiso and Busan, with each map receiving a different level of structural and narrative change.

The broadcast framed the work as a response to both play-pattern problems and the story moving into its next chapter. Paraiso receives the most dramatic rebuild, while Eichenwalde is a more focused attempt to loosen a map that has long favored defenders.

Paraiso gets the heaviest reconstruction

Points two and three on Paraiso look substantially different in the preview. Streets, plazas and high-ground access have been opened up, with new geometry changing where attackers can move and where defenders can build a hold.

The first point remains recognizable, but the later escort route is no longer the same narrow sequence players know today. Until the rework reaches live servers, the important unanswered question is whether the added cover creates useful choices for attackers or simply gives defenders new places to stabilize.

Eichenwalde targets defender control

Eichenwalde's update is smaller. The footage shows additional elevated movement options near the attacker approach and adjustments intended to reduce the map's defender-favored flow.

It is not a complete demolition of the first choke, and that immediately became the most debated part of the reveal. The new route matters only if teams can reach it without being exposed before the fight begins.

Busan becomes part of the active story

Busan is the narrative centerpiece. The city is shown under a Junker invasion, with improvised metal structures, damaged districts and new environmental details layered into the Korean battleground.

Blizzard also showed smaller gameplay adjustments across the map rather than a full competitive rebuild. The larger change is what Busan now represents: MEKA territory is no longer background lore. Season 4 is bringing the conflict directly onto a playable map.
