Three Perk concepts graduated into standard kits

Season 2 was set to add Mercy's Flash Heal, Reaper's Dire Triggers, and the movement concept from Pharah's Drift Thrusters to their base kits. Blizzard selected effects that added useful decisions without making familiar heroes feel like entirely new characters.

Associate game director Alec Dawson said the team looked for Perks that strengthened a hero fantasy, improved an existing ability, or created another balance lever without unnecessary input and visual clutter.

Sombra, Lifeweaver, and Roadhog entered early rework talks

The long-term section named Sombra, Lifeweaver, and Roadhog on an early shortlist for reworks later in 2026. Dawson stressed that the list could change and that more information was expected after Season 3.

The common concern was not age alone. Blizzard was examining rigid play patterns, kits that had stagnated, and heroes whose tools no longer offered the flexibility expected from newer designs.

Social spaces were also part of the roadmap

Post-Match Accolades were scheduled to return with a fully 3D results page, MVP voting, and an optional shared voice channel during Play of the Game. The intent was to give the end of a match more room for recognition and interaction.

Blizzard also discussed short social-event experiments and improvements to map voting. The through line was incremental work: immediate Season 2 changes alongside larger systems that needed more testing before release.
