The October 6 rework replaces the old damage-role ability loop with ally healing and a new output-reduction debuff.

A different job for the hacker

Sombra's move to Support is now backed by the October 6 kit details. Hack and Virus leave the main ability lineup. Hotfix delivers healing to an ally, while Cyberspace creates an area that heals teammates and applies Weaken to opponents. Weaken reduces the affected enemy's own damage and healing output rather than locking the enemy out of every ability.

Hotfix can also interact with health packs and enemy deployables. Those uses have a separate interruption and cooldown behavior from healing a teammate. Stealth remains part of Sombra's identity, but the rework gives it a different purpose: moving between positions where information, healing and disruption can arrive at the right time.

How the new loop changes decision-making

The practical tradeoff is which teammate needs a resource now and which enemy engagement is worth weakening. A player spending all their time on a distant flank can leave the team short of the support coverage this role expects. Conversely, treating Sombra as a stationary healing turret ignores the mobility and information tools that make the kit distinctive.

The notes also change her weapon, Translocator and EMP, and introduce the Conspirator passive. Those adjustments mean an old damage-Sombra guide is not a reliable starting point for every interaction. Try the new abilities in a low-pressure setting, then evaluate healing uptime, escape routes and whether Cyberspace is catching a committed fight rather than empty space.
