Doctrine revealed as Overwatch's vampire-inspired support
A scepter, life-force manipulation and mechanical bat drones define the new hero's BlizzCon introduction.
The confirmed introduction
Doctrine is the vampire-inspired support introduced at BlizzCon on September 12. Blizzard connects him to Doomfist and describes a kit built around life-force manipulation, a scepter and bat-like drones. His full release is tied to Season 5, not to the end of the convention's short hero trial.
The trial ran September 12–14. That window has passed. An old headline saying the hero can be played now refers to that preview period; it does not mean the October live roster already includes him. The promotional reveal and the eventual live patch are separate reference points.
What is still a preseason question
For players learning the role, the interesting part is the relationship between offensive pressure and team support. A life-draining visual theme can suggest aggression, but it does not by itself tell you how much healing, protection or damage a final team composition will receive. Those conclusions require the complete live kit and actual matches.
Previews are useful for understanding intent, not for freezing every number as permanent. We will treat the Season 5 release notes as the authority for launch tuning. The illustration on this report is an original editorial concept of the announced equipment and theme, not an official hero render or a screenshot of a selectable cosmetic.
