Korean Overwatch PC Service Moves to Nexon August 12: What Players Need to Link

Battle.net PC players in Korea need a Nexon link
Nexon takes over publishing and live-service operations for Korean Overwatch PC players on August 12, while Blizzard continues to lead development and global operations. Existing Korean Battle.net players who want to continue through Battle.net or the Nexon launcher must link their Battle.net and Nexon accounts.
The linked accounts must belong to the same person, and the Battle.net country must be set to Korea. Once linking is complete, existing skins, hero progress, credits, competitive rank and match data remain attached to the Battle.net account.
The pre-link window closes August 11
Players who complete and maintain the link by August 11 at 11:59 PM Korea Standard Time qualify for the published pre-link package. Rewards begin distributing after the Nexon service opens August 12.
The package includes Splash Surfer D.Va, 20 Mythic Prisms, five Legendary Loot Boxes, a Nexon cosmetic set and one special Nexon Legendary Loot Box. Nexon's notes say that special box guarantees four Legendary skins from the eligible pool available as of July 7.
Linking changes where the account can play
The most important restriction is easy to miss: after August 12, a Battle.net account linked to Nexon cannot use Overwatch through Steam or consoles. It remains playable through Battle.net or the Nexon launcher.
Players who unlink after the transition face a 12-month wait before that Battle.net account can be linked to Nexon again. Anyone who regularly moves between PC and console should decide which Battle.net account to link before confirming the process.
Steam remains available, but in a separate pool
Korean players who already have Overwatch in their Steam library can continue without a Nexon link. New Korean Steam library additions stop August 11 at 3:00 AM KST, and the matchmaking split begins August 12 at 3:00 AM KST.
Linked Korean players will match only with other linked Korean players. Existing unlinked Korean Steam users remain in a separate pool and cannot group across that divide. Steam users also do not receive the Korea-specific Nexon service benefits.
Coins remain, Battle Coins do not
Existing Overwatch Coins continue to work after the transition. Battle Coins, however, cannot be used for Korean Overwatch PC purchases after August 12, although their use in other Blizzard games and the existing refund rules remain unchanged.
The service change therefore affects more than the launcher. Account eligibility, platform access, matchmaking, regional rewards and payment options all change together, making the official linking FAQ worth reading before the deadline.
