Overview of Changes
The rework of New Junk City is set to transform the map across all control points, aiming to create a more fluid and enjoyable experience for players. The developers have focused on reducing choke points and enhancing navigation, all while maintaining the chaotic charm that Junk City is known for.
Key Improvements
One of the primary changes includes a reduction in forward spawn runbacks, thanks to the introduction of new upper paths and overhangs. This adjustment allows players to spend less time returning to the action after respawning, which can significantly impact the pace of the match.
In the Thunderdome, the entrance to the Hammer Mill will be scaled up, and the internal column will be slimmed down to create a more open space. Additionally, a new hallway will connect both lower sides, featuring grating that allows players to see onto the point without being exposed.
Redesigning Key Areas
The Bomb Flats area will undergo a dramatic redesign, with new cover and thematic bomb props enhancing the visual experience. The pathing and sightlines in this area will also be refined to facilitate better fights and easier comebacks for the attacking team.
At the Junkyard point, new crane placements will help with player orientation, while chokepoints will be widened and trash piles scaled down. Ramps will be added to the center route to improve rotations around all entrances.
Final Touches
The Refinery will see larger entrance doors and cleaner sightlines, with thematic props added around the exterior. The cylinder props on the point will now provide extended cover along the sides.
Lastly, the Ducts area will receive a significant makeover, addressing previous clunkiness by improving flow and connectivity. A proper entrance will be highlighted, and new routes will be introduced to enhance gameplay dynamics.
