The 2026 Overwatch World Cup Group Stage Begins in Busan
Sixteen national teams enter four round-robin groups, with only the top two from each group advancing to the World Cup Finals at BlizzCon.

Four groups, no room for a slow start
The road to BlizzCon moved to Busan on the evening of August 19 Pacific time, corresponding to August 20 in South Korea. Four groups of four teams play a single round robin, and every series is first to three maps.
Group A contains China, the United States, Sweden and Japan. Group B pairs Saudi Arabia, Australia, Mexico and Great Britain. Canada, Germany, Thailand and Spain make up Group C, while France, South Korea, Denmark and Colombia form Group D.
Eight tickets to BlizzCon are on the line
Only the top two teams from each group advance to the World Cup Finals. That makes map differential important even before a group reaches a conventional win-loss tiebreak.
The opening block began with Great Britain sweeping Mexico 3–0, followed by the United States beating China 3–1. Across four days, the tournament schedules 24 matches and more than 40 hours of broadcast coverage.
Busan is hosting more than the matches
The competition is staged at the Busan Esports Arena. Blizzard also scheduled Overwatch Day at BEXCO for August 22 and 23, including developer appearances, voice actors, creator showmatches and Season 4 activities.
For online viewers, the official Twitch and YouTube broadcasts carry a separate set of daily rewards throughout the Group Stage.
