South Korea wins the 2026 Overwatch World Cup
A 4–1 final against Saudi Arabia brings the trophy back to Korea, with France taking bronze.
The BlizzCon bracket delivers a champion
South Korea won the Overwatch World Cup final at BlizzCon on September 13, beating Saudi Arabia 4–1. It is Korea's fourth World Cup title and its first since 2018. France finished third after defeating Sweden 3–1 in the bronze-medal match.
Korea's path was not effortless. France took the first two maps of their semifinal before Korea completed a reverse sweep. In the final, Saudi Arabia won the opening map, and Korea answered with four consecutive map wins. The semifinal recovery is an important part of the result, not just a footnote to the trophy photograph.
National teams and club teams are different tests
The World Cup brings together country-based lineups, while the OWCS season returns players to their club rosters. A national team's result can highlight coordination and flexibility without proving that every related club will produce the same result in the next stage.
The tournament arrived shortly after a balance patch. Elite play is informative, but one bracket does not establish a permanent ranked meta at every skill level. Korea's recovery against France and four-map response in the final show why the completed series matter more than a single opening-map result. The victory adds a fourth World Cup title while leaving the club-team OWCS race to be decided in its own upcoming stages.
