Overview of Unranked Mode
The upcoming Unranked mode for Stadium is designed to provide a more casual gaming experience. Players will be able to queue with friends across all skill tiers, making it easier for groups to enjoy matches together without the pressure of competitive rankings.
Match Structure and Economy Changes
In this new mode, matches will be structured as best-of-5 series, which is a shift from the traditional best-of-7 format. This change is intended to facilitate quicker matches, eliminating the need for a mercy rule. Additionally, players will receive more Stadium Cash during these matches, allowing for greater strategic flexibility within a shorter game duration.
Addressing Leaver Issues
To mitigate the impact of players leaving matches, a Backfill feature will be introduced. This feature will allow players to join ongoing games, similar to the existing system in standard Quick Play. Backfilled players will receive Stadium Cash equivalent to the game's progression and will have the opportunity to shop before entering the match.
Future Updates on Grouping Restrictions
As part of ongoing improvements, the developers plan to implement restrictions on grouping in Stadium, akin to the system used in Overwatch's core Competitive Mode. This aims to balance matchmaking by ensuring players are matched with others of similar skill levels, particularly benefiting high-ranked players and those facing long queue times.
